Your hosts Uwe and Carel, visited South Africa on holiday when they discovered Barrydale and - "It was love at first sight..."  They relocated from Hamburg, Germany, to Barrydale in 2014, and then saw potential in this beautiful 1920's building, which has lovingly undergone extensive renovations whilst retaining the character of the original home.

Sorgvry (which means "care free") offers luxurious accommodation - as the name suggests, it's all about guests having a care free holiday. 

Uwe’s cooking is to cordon bleu chef standards and with a flourishing vegetable garden, dinners are prepared with seasonal produce and much tender loving care.

African Room

Beautifully decorated by our very own Magpie Art Collective artists.  This room has been tastefully done with recycled materials.  

You will be amazed at the creative minds that reside in Barrydale. Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap This bed can be split to accommodate separate sleeping requests.

Asian Room

Pure luxury, style and elegance - A combination of Eastern and contemporary decor, this room will definitely give you that holiday feeling. Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap.

Oriental Room

Richly royal, yet cosy - cleverly decorated to incorporate a feel of the Orient for those who love, or long to travel.  Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap.   The bed can be split to accommodate separate sleeping requests.

Belgian Room

Elegant Simplicity, perfect for two people travelling together who do not want to share a bed. This room also has a totally separate, private bathroom.  Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap.

Garden Cottage

Secluded and cosy, this cottage consists of a double bedroom, en-suite bathroom and a veranda overlooking the beautiful garden. Equipped with: tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries (body wash and shampoo, hand soap and lotion), two bath robes, hairdryer and a shower cap.

Breakfast & Dining at Sorgvry House of Guests

A hearty breakfast is served each morning and Dinner is a three course meal, served from 7pm up until 10pm. Light lunches, as well as tea and cakes are served on a beautiful terrace, overlooking their magnificent garden.

Things to do around Barrydale

Barrydale offers various wellness facilities such as Warmwaterberg Hot Springs, massages, yoga, pilates, hiking and beautiful drives in the surrounding area.

The town of Barrydale has only a few shops, but somehow always seems buzzing. You will never meet more friendly, charismatic and eclectic residents. 

Tradouw Wine Farm serves a delicious alfresco deli lunch and wines that are out of this world, by Meyer Joubert, an award-winning winemaker. Then, stop in for a taste of traditional brandy and wine, at one of South Africa's top pot still brandy producers at the Barrydale Cellars.

Take a leisurely drive through Bonnievale to Robertson and enjoy some good wines and the countryside which is lined by beautiful lush flowers, trees, orchards, and vinyards...breathtakingly beautiful.

With so much to do, a one night stay is just not enough!
