Your hosts Uwe and Carel, visited South Africa on holiday when they discovered Barrydale and - "It was love at first sight..." They relocated from Hamburg, Germany, to Barrydale in 2014, and then saw potential in this beautiful 1920's building, which has lovingly undergone extensive renovations whilst retaining the character of the original home.
Sorgvry (which means "care free") offers luxurious accommodation - as the name suggests, it's all about guests having a care free holiday.
Uwe’s cooking is to cordon bleu chef standards and with a flourishing vegetable garden, dinners are prepared with seasonal produce and much tender loving care.

Breakfast & Dining at Sorgvry House of Guests
A hearty breakfast is served each morning and Dinner is a three course meal, served from 7pm up until 10pm. Light lunches, as well as tea and cakes are served on a beautiful terrace, overlooking their magnificent garden.
We hope our guests will stay for a few days in order to enjoy the Barrydale and the surrounding area we know and love so.
Things to do around Barrydale
Barrydale offers various wellness facilities such as Warmwaterberg Hot Springs, massages, yoga, pilates, hiking and beautiful drives in the surrounding area.
The town of Barrydale has only a few shops, but somehow always seems buzzing. You will never meet more friendly, charismatic and eclectic residents.
Tradouw Wine Farm serves a delicious alfresco deli lunch and wines that are out of this world, by Meyer Joubert, an award-winning winemaker. Then, stop in for a taste of traditional brandy and wine, at one of South Africa's top pot still brandy producers at the Barrydale Cellars.
Take a leisurely drive through Bonnievale to Robertson and enjoy some good wines and the countryside which is lined by beautiful lush flowers, trees, orchards, and vinyards...breathtakingly beautiful.
With so much to do, a one night stay is just not enough!
